About the book:
This novella is set within a Buddhist monastery at the base of the Khangchendzonga mountains in northeastern India. Its inspiration stems from the exquisite painting The Bodhisattva’s Tusks by Abanindronath Tagore, in which a meditating prince allows his flowing locks to rest upon the ivory tusks of an elephant. The narrative unfolds through the lives of individuals who seek personal truth within this sacred space, each inevitably confronting their own moment of reckoning. From New Zealand to New Delhi and beyond, the characters traverse a metaphorical journey, moving from a state of comfortable self-assurance to profound emotional turmoil, before ultimately arriving at the gates of self-knowledge.
